I contacted Tom at Rain Away Drainage to help fix a leaky basement.  In 2012 my wife and I bought our first house.  What we didn’t realize until after we purchased our home was that every time it rained, the basement would fill up with water. We found a couple of cracks in the cement walls. The ground above wasn’t pitched correctly, forcing water to drain towards the house.  Also, the downspouts were busted, allowing water to drain from the gutters and pool up next to the foundation. I contacted Tom who suggested we dig out the foundation from the bottom up, put in an underground drain, waterproof the foundation from the outside and re-pitch the lawn correctly with new topsoil.

We had a few challenges along the way and, almost two years later, we haven’t seen a drop in the basement. It’s held up through Hurricane Sandy and some nasty snow storms so I’m convinced it’s a job well done.  Tom was super fast to respond to questions and concerns and always made it a priority to fix any problems as the work was being done, along with some minor issues after it was completed. His rates were fair and he was able to stick to the schedule.  I’d recommend Tom every time and he is my go-to drainage guy!

We initially called Rain Away Drainage Solutions to take a look at the excessive water in our backyard and to offer their perspective and proposed solution.  When they arrived, they walked the property, asked appropriate questions and proposed a solution.  We hired them to bury our drain spouts and install a connection to an already-existing French drain.  They were professional, extremely polite and completed the work to our satisfaction.  They finished the project by clearing large rocks and debris resulting from the digging and seeded and laid out hay to encourage regrowth of the grass.  They took care to move heavy equipment on and off our property with consideration of sensitive areas of the lawn and driveway.  A note on their attention to detail; when they retrieved an extra large boulder, they asked if we would like to use it in the landscaping, and it now adds to the beauty of an existing landscape area.
